Kanawar wildlife santuary

 


Kanwar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 6,070 hectares. The altitude of this wildlife sanctuary varies a lot and it ranges from 1800-4833 m. The average rainfall in this sanctuary is about 1000 mm and the average snowfall here is about 321 mm. The nearest town to this sanctuary is Manikaran. The best approach to this sanctuary is from Kullu to Manikaran. The sanctuary gets maximum temperature of 25°C and the minimum temperature of this sanctuary is about -10°C.


Kanwar Wildlife Sanctuary


Kanwar Wildlife Sanctuary was first declared as a sanctuary area in the year 1954 in the month of February. The sanctuary is located at high altitude and has narrow valleys and steep cliffs. This sanctuary houses one of the most endangered species of animals, Himalayan Tahr.
